“One of the cornerstones of Dr Iqbal’s philosophy is transformation of individuals making them productive citizens,” Dr Younas said. “The individual garners respect through the nation and the nation gets its strength from individuals. “His philosophy makes Allama Iqbal relevant to all societies and nations. The experts believe that Pakistan can touch heights of success by following Dr Iqbal’s teachings as his legacy as a poet and philosopher continues to inspire generations. As the nation is all set to celebrate Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s 147th birth anniversary with overwhelming reverence and enthusiasm, it also needs to teach younger generation Allama Iqbal’s philosophy and vision preparing them for building a strong, progressive and prosperous society.

The government’s ongoing negotiations with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) over the revision of their sovereign contracts aim to reduce electricity tariffs, which is presented as a welcome step toward alleviating the burden on consumers. However, while this move may yield short-term fiscal savings, it does little to address the fundamental issues plaguing Pakistan’s power sector. The real crisis lies in the broader inefficiencies of the power sector: rampant system losses, widespread theft, and the continued reliance on expensive fossil fuels for electricity generation. The power sector is already facing a significant shortfall in investment, and the fear of further arbitrary contract revisions could deter future investors, exacerbating the crisis in the long run. Only with a comprehensive, long-term strategy can Pakistan hope to solve its electricity crisis and make power affordable for its citizens.

Justice Aminuddin Khan was heading the larger bench hearing the government's intra-court appeals against the ruling that declared civilian trials in military courts unconstitutional. The two other members of the committee - Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar - were also part of that larger bench. Even Justice Aminuddin Khan did not support his proposal. He said that these seven judges' nomination is for two months, adding that the JCP may sit again by or before this period ends. I write to you as a Grade 9 student at a prestigious private school in Lahore. Yesterday, on my way to school, I experienced a severe coughing fit. I found it difficult to breathe, and for a few moments, I feared I would choke. How does our honourable government plan to address the critical issue of children lacking clean air to breathe? For the love of God, please rearrange the school calendar so that we have a shorter summer break and a longer winter break.

Details of the extent of Sara’s injuries have been detailed at London’s Old Bailey court, including claims from Batool that Sharif would beat his daughter badly. Sharif broke down when his lawyer, Naeem Mian, questioned him about beating Sara, who was home schooled, with a cricket bat. Forensic evidence shown to court included bundles of packaging tape and a white plastic carrier bag fashioned into a hood that could have been used on Sara’s head. The bag had packaging tape stuck to it as well as long, brown hairs that matched Sara’s DNA, the court was told. Sharif had previously accused Batool of being abusive toward him and preventing him from asking Sara about how she obtained her injuries.

The result of the 2024 election in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) revealed a substantial change in the social and political landscape of the occupied territory, where the ruling party met with a resounding defeat. The people of occupied Kashmir voted for the first time after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s regime repealed Article 370 in August 2019. This election is being seen as a barometer to measure the public’s stance on BJP-led policies in occupied Kashmir. This election result will be a decisive moment, not only for the occupied Kashmir but for Pakistan as well, as it is a firm supporter of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination claim over the whole of IIOJK. The result of the 2024 election mirrors the Lok Sabha [lower house of the Indian parliament] election of 2019, where the BJP managed to secure two seats in the Hindu-majority Jammu area.
