His comeback, following a series of legal and political setbacks, is nothing short of extraordinary, setting a new benchmark for political comebacks in modern American history. ET, Trump described his journey as “the greatest political movement of all time,” vowing to “heal the nation” and promising sweeping reforms. Unlike his first campaign, Trump’s strategy this time was not solely focused on energizing his base. Trump’s victory also sparked a Republican resurgence in the Senate, paving the way for a smoother path for his administration. However, despite his overwhelming win, Trump’s return to office does not come with a broad mandate.

The recent legislative spree by the ruling government has raised serious concerns about the state of democratic norms and parliamentary oversight. While the government claims that this move will bring stability and continuity, it raises questions about the balance of power between the civilian and military establishments. Moreover, the expansion of the judiciary, particularly the higher courts, raises concerns about the independence of the judiciary and its ability to check the executive. The government’s legislative agenda has been marked by a series of controversial decisions that have eroded democratic norms and undermined the rule of law. It is imperative that the government engages in meaningful dialogue with the opposition and civil society to address the concerns raised by these legislative measures.

On Election Day, a Google search discrepancy led to questions about bias when searches for “Where can I vote for Harris?” displayed a voting map, but the same search for “Where can I vote for Trump?” did not. Google clarified that this difference occurred due to Harris also being the name of a Texas county, which automatically triggered the “Where to vote” map feature, a pattern also seen in Vance County searches. Google assured users that a fix was underway and stated that few users actually search for voting locations this way. Previously, Amazon faced a similar situation when its Alexa assistant provided differing responses to questions about voting for Trump versus Harris. As Election Day progressed, Google removed the Harris map feature and recommended users search "Where can I vote" for unbiased location results.
