All non-emergency visitors to public hospitals and clinics may be required to get vaccinated, as authorities mull further expanding the “vaccine pass” scheme. A source said officials are considering to require those who go to public hospitals and clinics for medical follow ups or other services to be vaccinated. Under the "no jab, no entry vaccine pass" implemented since February, only inoculated people can enter regulated premises - including restaurants, supermarkets, malls and entertainment venues. For those who recovered from Covid-19 aged 12 or above, they will be given six months to get the first jab. Then they must get the second jab six months after they get the first.

National security police officers have arrested a 59-year-old martial arts coach and his 62-year-old assistant for sedition in Tsim Sha Tsui Sunday afternoon for calling upon people not to get vaccinated, according to sources. Officers from the police’s national security department arrested the coach and his female assistant in a Tsim Sha Tsui flat where the coach teaches martial arts classes in. The martial arts center once published posters depicting images of people in combat, as well as fire and swords. The posters encouraged citizens to learn martial arts to kill the evil ones and for self-defense, so that they can “save themselves as well as others”. This would be the third high-profile arrest carried out by national security police in two months involving incitement.

NEW DELHI — Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida urged India’s Narendra Modi on Saturday to take a tougher line on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but a joint statement after talks in Delhi fell short of condemning Moscow’s actions. Earlier this month in a four-way call, the other Quad leaders — Kishida, US President Joe Biden and Australia’s Scott Morrison — also failed to win the Indian premier over to their position on Ukraine. A joint Quad statement at the time said they “discussed the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and assessed its broader implications” — without any condemnation of Moscow. A separate Indian readout pointedly underlined that the alliance must remain focused on its “core objective… in the Indo-Pacific region” of promoting peace, stability and prosperity. InvestmentWith reference to China’s growing assertiveness — seen as the main concern of the Quad — Kishida and Modi “reaffirmed their common vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific, free from coercion”.

SHADOW IT are IT (information technology) projects (like cloud services) that are managed outside of, and without the knowledge of, the IT department. The Manila Times (TMT): Why is shadow IT a critical issue for many enterprises? Dinesh Varadharajan (DVa): Shadow IT creeps into organizations as business users look for agile technology to meet their needs without the consent of their IT teams. The ability to use a platform for prototyping and generating a workflow or even an entire application for production encourages dialogue between the IT team and business users. This is the kind of collaboration necessary to combat the problem of shadow IT.

Tiger Woods AFP FILE PHOTOPONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida: The greatest of his generation, Tiger Woods took his place among the best of all time on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) when he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame and shared a life story of a passion to play and a work ethic that made him feel like he earned it. Woods didn't touch on any of his 82 victories on the PGA Tour or his 15 majors, or the eight surgeries he endured along the way. "If you don't go out there and put in the work, you don't go out and put in the effort, one, you're not going to get the results," Woods said. The show was so geared around Woods that it featured three short video presentations that were titled "GOAT," the popular acronym for "greatest of all time." There was little doubt Woods belonged in the Hall of Fame.

Dustin Johnson AFP FILE PHOTOPONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida: Dustin Johnson's commentary on his shots was more revealing than where they landed. "That's not cutting," Johnson said with a laugh, the words not long out of his mouth when he could see the ball splash in the distance. He asked for the 7-wood, the club he thought about hitting in the first place, and tried a draw. "Yeah, that's more like it," Johnson deadpanned. Johnson looked more at peace than he has in months, even as he endures the longest stretch of his career without a win.

LVIV, Ukraine – Ukraine accused Russian forces on Saturday of killing seven civilians in an attack on women and children trying to flee fighting near Kyiv, and France said Russian President Vladimir Putin had shown he was not ready to make peace. It blames Ukraine for failed attempts to evacuate civilians from encircled cities, an accusation Ukraine and its Western allies strongly reject. The president suggested Russian forces would face a fight to the death if they sought to enter the capital. Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and Mariupol remained encircled under heavy Russian shelling, it said. At least 1,582 civilians in Mariupol have been killed as a result of Russian shelling and a 12-day blockade, the city council said on Friday.
