BioNTech and Pfizer said on Wednesday a three-shot course of their COVID-19 vaccine was able to neutralize the new Omicron variant in a laboratory test and they could deliver an Omicron-based vaccine in March 2022 if needed. A lab analysis at the university hospital of Frankfurt, Germany, however, found a reduced antibody response to Omicron even after three shots. T-cells are the second pillar of an immune response, alongside antibodies, and are believed to prevent severe disease by attacking infected human cells.

Korea announces second child death from COVID-19
SEOUL — South Korea on Tuesday announced its second child death from COVID-19. Pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Eun Byung-wook of Nowon Eulji University Hospital said although children with brain disorders did not always develop severe symptoms from COVID-19, hospital care was generally recommended. In Korea, children 12 and older are eligible for vaccination against COVID-19. In announcing the death in a closed-door briefing at 2:10 p.m., the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said the child died while receiving hospital treatment. Korea’s first child known to have died of COVID-19 was a 5-year-old girl with a chronic neurological condition.

More sensible, more logical passive voice construction: "The evidence in the Manila electioneering case was falsified by the complainants." An even more compelling reason for using the passive voice has little to do with grammar but more with the art of communication itself. There's no need to rub it in by flagrantly using the active voice. The choice between the active voice and the passive voice, then, isn't just a matter of grammar.
