File photo of Rabab Fatima UNBDhaka stresses the need to conclude a comprehensive convention on international terrorism outlining the root causesBangladesh condemns and rejects terrorism in all forms and manifestations, Ambassador Rabab Fatima, Bangladesh’s permanent representative at the United Nations in New York, said on Wednesday. “Bangladesh maintains a strict policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and violent extremism” she said in her statement at UN plenary meeting on measures to eliminate international terrorism, according to the permanent mission in New York on Thursday night. The envoy stressed the need to conclude a comprehensive convention on international terrorism outlining the root causes of terrorism and specific measures to eliminate those trends and reaffirmed the country’s abiding commitment to remain as a reliable partner of the international community to counter terrorism in all forms and manifestations. She shared the various initiatives of the government in counter terrorism and violent extremism and said that Bangladesh is a party to all the international counter-terrorism instruments. Bangladesh has been investing heavily in national capacity building including awareness-raising, community engagement and resilience, in a ‘whole-of-society’ approach to combat terrorism, she added.
