The fishing vessel at Big Bay in Southland had to be refloated. Photo: Supplied via NZHA fishing boat that ran aground at a remote South Island beach has finally been refloated – some four days after its beaching and earlier unsuccessful refloating attempts. The New Zealand-flagged trawler Remus ran aground at Big Bay, 40km north of Milford Sound, about 10am on Thursday. The shallow approach to the beach meant the tow vessel could only get to within about 1000m of the Remus. The fishing vessel Remus beached on Big Bay beach.
