Canada Inflation Holds Steady at 3.1% in November

By Robb M. StewartOTTAWA--Canada's annual inflation rate unexpectedly held steady last month as consumers continue to be squeezed by higher mortgage interest costs, food prices and rent. The country's consumer price index rose 3.1% in November from a year earlier, matching the pace in October, Statistics Canada said Tuesday. Meanwhile, the average of the Bank of Canada's preferred trimmed mean and weighted median measures for underlying core inflation held at 3.45% on-year in November. Core inflation provides a measure of price changes that excludes volatile goods such as food and energy. Write to Robb M.
