Commission okays drone regulation reforms

A farmer inspects a drone prior to deployment. The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has approved a new set of draft regulations to expand drone spectrum use, upgrade technical standards, and strengthen oversight of drone operations nationwide. Commissioner Air Marshal Thanapant Raicharoen said the NBTC's board meeting on April 7 endorsed four draft notifications covering key aspects of drone operations. In addition, new spectrum bands have been allocated for drone radar systems to enhance obstacle avoidance and collision prevention capabilities. A key highlight of the draft regulations is the introduction of a mandatory remote ID system.
