Court allows Chuka hospital to get rid of 23 uncollected bodies

A court has granted Chuka County Referral Hospital authority to dispose off bodies that have not been collected from its morgue. The court ordered the bodies be buried at the Chuka municipal Council cemetery, in line with the Public Health Act. An affidavit submitted to the court by hospital deputy superintendent Bedan Maina stated the bodies have been lying at the mortuary since April 27. Senior principal magistrate Alfred Kibiru granted the hospital's request to get rid of the bodies of five adults and 18 infants. Maina told the court that they posed a health hazard to residents near the morgue since they had started decomposing.
