Member (Planning and Development) of BAEC Dr Imtiaz Kamal and Nikita Mazein, vice president of Rosatom overseas signed the primary agreement on behalf of their respective countriesThe government has signed a primary deal with Russia to import uranium for the much awaited Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant aimed at generating 2,200MW power. The deal was signed between the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) and Russia's state nuclear agency Rosatom at the Ministry of Science and Technology on Thursday, reports BSS. “Initiatives to bring uranium from Russia for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant would soon be completed,” said Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman, witnessing the deal signing ceremony at the ministry conference room. During the contract signing ceremony Science and Technology Secretary M Anwar Hossain, Bangladesh Ambassador to Russia Dr SM Saiful Haque and high officials of Russian Federation were present.
