CAIRO – 15 January 2021: The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has condemned “with the strongest terms” an explosion in the region of Tebessa on Thursday killing five people and injuring three others. “Egypt expresses its full solidarity with the sisterly People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in this treacherous incident,” the statement read. “It also extends its sincere condolences to the people of Algeria and the families of the innocent victims.”The ministry also wished the injured people in the incident a speedy recovery. Violence is rarer now in the North African country since authorities ended a war in 1990s with armed Islamists in a conflict that killed 200,000 people, according to Reuters. But al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and small bands of Islamists allied to Islamic State have been active in remote areas.
