The European Union has partnered with Austria Development Corporation and Family Health Organization to improve maternal healthcare reach in Kisumu County. Low income Manyatta and Nyalenda areas in Kisumu County will benefit from improved and accessible healthcare funded through Care Kenya the European Union that seeks to stem the County's high maternal deaths. Over 10,000 patients have already benefited from the program in the period November 2014 to October 2015 according to Kisumu Integrated Family Health Project Activities Report 2015. The grant by the European Union, with co-funding from Austria Development Corporation and Care, was meant to improve maternal and child health, sexual reproductive health, family planning and the nutritional status of communities living within Manyatta and Nyalenda in Kisumu County for a period of three years (November 2014 – October 2017).
