The office has warned that weak enforcement and legal loopholes are undermining consumer safety and hurting coconut farmers. Speaking on Thursday after an inspection visit into falling coconut prices and alleged coconut water adulteration, Ombudsman chairman, Songsak Saicheua, said the issue had become an urgent public concern after authorities raided two facilities in Samut Songkhram on Wednesday for allegedly producing counterfeit coconut water. Some agencies and provinces have adopted this approach and such surprise visits have led to some arrests, he said.
