February witnessed a milestone for Egyptian women in sports after champion Basant Hamida won the gold medal in indoor athletics at the Karlsruhe International Athletics Meeting in Germany, achieving an impressive time of 7.97 seconds. Minister Nabil praised Issa’s honorable performance, emphasizing that her achievement is a landmark in the history of Paralympic sports as she became the first Egyptian and Arab player to win a medal at the World Para Badminton Championships. The minister also congratulated the Egyptian Squash Federation, headed by Amina Trabelsi, and champion Nour al-Sherbini, on winning the Windy City Open women’s squash title. This achievement confirms Egypt’s standing in the sport of squash and reflects the efforts exerted by Egyptian champions in their pursuit of excellence, he said. Egyptian champion Safaa Suleiman also won the silver medal at the European Open Judo Championships held in Germany, adding to the national list of achievements for Egyptian judo.
