Financed Thugs Behind Attacks on Outskirts of Addis Ababa - PoliceBy Staff ReportersSeptember 17, 2018 - Federal Police Commissioner Zeinu Jemal said that the government will no longer tolerate thugs who are trying to disrupt the peace of society. Police have also discovered and put in custody people who tried to loot property around the main market area (Merkato) in Addis Ababa and there have also been suspects seized while disseminating inflammatory insults which were ethnic in nature. He said the police have also apprehended some armed people in Piassa and Merkato areas including confisicating hand grenade. The Commissioners also urged the people to down play the crisis instead of putting on more fuel to the fire. At least 23 people have been killed in ethnic-based attacks in Burayu town of Oromia state, on the outskirt of the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, senior police officer saidOromia Police Commissioner Alemayehu Ejigu said about 200 individuals who were allegedly involved in the attacks have so far been arrested.
