Full operations of the Purple Line extension began on Monday, with the first-ever Metro train setting off towards Baiyappanahalli from KR Pura at 5.33 am. Indianexpress.com did a reality check and boarded the Metro train from Challaghatta at 3.09 pm and reached Whitefield at 4.35 pm. Traffic police said the number of vehicles heading to KR Puram railway station has dropped significantly compared to Monday’s usual numbers. It was also observed that the decrease in pedestrian traffic at Baiyappanahalli Metro station resulted in faster traffic movement and smaller crowding at KR Puram railway station. As a result, the movement of the car towards KR Puram was fast.
