Currently, the party has 23 MLAs in the 175-member Assembly and three MPs in the Lok Sabha. Joining a strong national party serves their interests best. BJP game planGoing by the sources in both TDP and BJP, the national party intends to weaken the TDP and emerge as a strong player by the 2024 elections. The TDP is, however, dubbing it as an “unethical back door manoeuvre.” This apart, the stoic silence of the TDP leaders who attended Mr. Naidu’s teleconference on Saturday on the future plan of action raises doubts on the outcome of the meeting. However, the party’s well-wishers opine that the TDP has a permanent cadre that will revive the party’s lost glory.
