The Union Government moved a step closer to building an integrated, domestically anchored container ecosystem on Tuesday, with the signing of an MoU to establish the Bharat Container Shipping Line (BCSL). Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, and Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw witnessed the signing. The MoU signals a coordinated push across shipping, ports, and rail-linked logistics. The BCSL MoU was signed with the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, V.O. “The Bharat Container Shipping Line will anchor India’s container trade in Indian hands and play a multiplier role in strengthening our strategic and commercial presence in global maritime trade,” he said.
