His job as Hospice Southland chief executive had been challenging but he said he had worked with brilliant people and believed the community support Hospice Southland received was second to none. Hospice Southland board chairwoman Helen McCurdy said they were looking to employ an interim chief executive before hiring a permanent replacement for Leys.
