All is not well between the team management led Indian skipper Virat Kohli, head coach Ravi Shastri and the selection committee headed by former Indian fast bowler Chetan Sharma. After the opening batsman, Shubman Gill was injured, the team management requested the selection panel to send the openers Devdutt Padikkal and Prithvi Shaw as a backup for Gill as the opener for the upcoming Test series against England starting August 4. However, the request has been denied by the committee to not call Shaw and Padikkal, who are in Sri Lanka with the Shikhar Dhawan-led side for the limited-overs tour. As per a report by the news agency PTI, the request has been denied by the committee as according to the selectors the team has enough options in Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul to replace Shubman Gill and draft the Bengal batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran in the side, who has travelled with the squad as part of reserves. However, there are several reports that suggested that team management isn't satisfied with what they have seen of Easwaran in the nets and hence made a request.
