SINGAPORE (Sept 14): HSBC Global Research says investors will be increasingly pushed to adopt greener capital management strategies as the world races towards mitigating the risks from climate change. “The rationale for taking climate into account in investment decision making is on the rise,” say HSBC’s Zoe Knight, Chan Wai-Shin, and Ashim Paun in a September report on climate risk assessment. At the recently-concluded G20 Summit in Hangzhou, China used its presidency of the G20 to introduce green finance as one of the four topics covered at the Summit for the first time. “Regulators and civil society are pushing investors, as well as corporates, to provide the groundwork for a low-carbon transition. To that end, we expect investors to be under increasing pressure to provide evidence of facilitating the change,” HSBC says.
