CAIRO – 26 April 2021: Prominent politician and leader of the Popular Resistance in Suez governorate Sheikh Hafez Salama died on Monday at the age of 92. It was reported that Sheikh Salama was admitted to a hospital in the Suez governorate on April 13 after being infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19). Sheikh Salama was born on December 6, 1925. He was the leader of the Popular Resistance during the 1973 October War in the Suez Governorate. He was distributing the tasks among the fedayeen, according to press interviews during the past years, until the popular resistance was able to prevent the Israeli enemy from occupying the Suez Governorate.
