The Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Salah al-Din al-Namroush, held talks on Monday with Russia’s Ambassador to Libya, Haidar Rashid Abdullah Aghanin, and the embassy’s military attaché, Alexei Monya Kqov, on strengthening bilateral ties. In a statement, the General Staff said discussions focused on prospects for Libyan-Russian cooperation, particularly in the military sphere, as well as the importance of advancing training and qualification programmes to improve the efficiency and readiness of personnel. Both sides also explored ways to enhance cooperation in military development and expand joint collaboration in support of mutual interests, with the aim of strengthening the Libyan army along modern professional lines. The Russian ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Libya, including providing support in military training and capacity-building, and to build an effective partnership between the two sides.
