The Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Agency has announced the arrest of two Libyan nationals on suspicion of drug trafficking, following what it described as a “targeted operation” in the Al-Saadi village area of the capital, Tripoli. In a statement posted on its official page on Monday, the agency said approximately two kilogrammes of a substance suspected to be cocaine were seized from the suspects, along with 20 bags containing the same material. According to the statement, the operation was carried out after receiving confirmed intelligence regarding the suspects’ alleged involvement in drug distribution in the area. An ambush was subsequently set, leading to their arrest in the act. The agency confirmed that all legal procedures have been taken against the suspects, who have been referred to the anti-narcotics prosecution for further investigation.
