KUCHING: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's pledge to review the Malaysia Agreement if Pakatan Harapan comes to power is a political gimmick to entice Sarawak voters, says Tan Sri James Masing (pic). The Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister said it was ironic that Dr Mahathir only wanted to look at the Malaysia Agreement now, but did not do so during his premiership. At a ceramah here on Sunday night, Dr Mahathir said Pakatan would revisit the Malaysia Agreement to ensure a fair deal for Sarawak, Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia. The former premier, who is now Pakatan chairman, also said the Opposition coalition intended to renegotiate the petroleum revenue agreement with Sarawak and Sabah, and to restore education autonomy to both states. "The meetings are going on and I believe we have a positive response from the Federal Government," he said.
