The fire reportedly broke out around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, destroying vehicles, engines, and other valuable properties belonging to the mechanics. Eyewitnesses say the fire started when refuse was being burned in a dark area close to the shops. The flames spread rapidly due to the presence of tyres, rubber materials, upholstery items, and various car spare parts. Shop owners and workers were left devastated, as their tools and main source of livelihood were reduced to ashes.
