As the era of mass-driven demand for social change continues well into 2019, last weekend was driven by public protests around the world, from the yellow vests in France to Algerians clamoring against the prolonged rule of their current president. According to Reuters, the march has largely been peaceful, apart from isolated cases involving some who try to approach the presidential palace. PHILIPPINESThe Philippine communist movement held a Lightning protest in Manila, asking for resumption of peace talks with the government. MEXICOWomen in Mexico took to the streets to protest against the rising level of feminicides and overall violence against women in the country. An average of nine women were killed every day in Mexico in 2018, according to the National Commission of Human Rights.
