The couple was picked up in Dhaka in the early hours of Wednesday following a long search, said Jhenaidah’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Hasanuzzaman, but he declined to say from where in the capital. Matiar is Jamaat’s Jhenaidah district unit secretary and a member of Majlis-e-Shura, the highest policymaking body of the Islamist party. The SP said that two laptop computers and seven mobile phones were seized from Matiar’s possession at the time of his arrest. The process to send the couple to Jhenaidah was underway, he said.
