Figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by The Mail on Sunday show the number of deportation orders served has dropped by nearly 2,000 – from 5,218 in 2015 to 3,225 last year. The effectiveness of deportation orders has been undermined in recent years by a number of legal loopholes that have allowed offenders to stay in the UK.
