KUALA LUMPUR: The Refugee Registration Document Programme, which began on Jan 1, is a crucial step towards improving the management of refugees and asylum seekers in the country. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail described the initiative as enabling authorities to gather clearer and more comprehensive data, allowing regulatory processes to be carried out more systematically and effectively. Earlier, Saifuddin Nasution chaired the working committee meeting for the security cluster on the Management of Refugees and Asylum Seekers. "The meeting is aimed at reviewing the country’s approach in dealing with increasingly complex challenges involving the group," he added. "Discussions were focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination while ensuring that national security remains safeguarded, alongside efforts to manage refugee and asylum-related matters in a more structured and effective manner," he said.
