Republic Cement pushes expansionRepublic Cement Corp. is expanding its plants’ milling capacity by at least 10 percent in anticipation of huge demand for cement in the country especially for the housing sector. Republic Cement logoRenato Sunico, president of Republic Cement Corp., told reporters at the “Housing Solutions Congress” organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) that the ongoing ground field expansion program is being implemented on its five integrated cement plants, including 4 in Luzon and one in Iligan, and a grinding plant in Cebu. This expansion will make Republic Cement the country’s largest in terms of capacity in Luzon and second nationwide among cement players, Sunico said. “All cement plants are expanding,” he said. Cement plants are expanding capacities because of the boom in the construction sector due to infrastructure projects, the Public-Private Partnership program and private sector projects.
