STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — A Colorado city has rejected a proposal for a snowmobile hill climb due to concerns about timing and impact to the historic slope. The Steamboat Pilot & Today reported Wednesday that the Steamboat Springs City Council voted against the plan to hold the event on Howelsen Hill in April 2020. Council members say the extra days of manmade snowmaking required for the event would cost the city nearly $4,000 and interfere with maintenance and sports club schedules.
