He said Bahasa Melayu and History are the two compulsory subjects in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) that must be passed. “I think that clearly addresses the importance of Bahasa Melayu. Without touching on PSD’s decision, Mahdzir reiterated that Bahasa Melayu is the language of the nation. “To obtain the SPM certificate, a candidate must pass the Bahasa Melayu subject and all Malaysians must be able to speak the language,” he said.
