Cops obtain remand for cloned car driver who caused five-vehicle crash near Nilai


SEREMBAN: Police have obtained a four-day remand order against the driver of a cloned car who had caused a five-vehicle crash at Arab-Malaysian Industrial Zone in Nilai yesterday. The remand order against the 32-year-old suspect which was issued by the Magistrate’s Court here today, expires on July 7, to facilitate with the police investigation. Nilai district police chief Superitendent Zaldino Zaludin said the suspect will be investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving. In the 7pm incident yesterday, the car driver, believed to be driving a cloned car was ordered to stop by a team of Road Transport Department (RTD) officers, before he sped off. Zaldino said, the suspect later claimed that he had borrowed the car from a friend and tried to escape as his driving licence and road tax had expired.
