The 14 Chinese nationals were also detained for entering and staying in the country without permission, the arresting team said on Wednesday. Authorities later confirmed that all 14 passengers were Chinese nationals, who could not produce passports or valid travel documents. The 14 Chinese nationals told police they had crossed into Thailand aboard a long-tail boat across the Mekong River and admitted they had no passports or travel documents.
