Together we can TOGETHER WE CAN: Brinda Karat with Banani Biswas (left), the editor of Ek Sathe, the monthly magazine of All India Democratic Women's Association, the women's wing of the CPM, at the 50-year celebrations of the publication. The magazine was launched in May 1968. "Since then we have not stopped for a day," said Biswas in an impassioned speech. She recalled the days of Emergency when even pieces by Rabindranath Tagore or Saratchandra Chattopadhyay had to be cleared by the censor board. Other dignitaries included Malika Begum from Bangladesh, Jhumur Pande from Assam, national and state AIDWA members Brinda Karat, Malini Bhattacharya and Ratnabali Chatterjee, and educator Pabitra Sarkar.
