The Municipality of Tripoli Center has launched a public opinion poll on a proposal to rename two historic landmarks: Galleria de Bono and Galleria Mariotti. Officials stressed that public input is a key element of the Municipal Council's decision-making process, ensuring choices align with community preferences and the collective will. Galleria de Bono is a historic structure in Algeria Square, constructed in 1931 during the Italian colonial period. It was named after Emilio De Bono, an Italian military governor whose tenure is linked to acts of repression and crimes against Libyans. It remains an important part of Tripoli's architectural heritage and urban memory.
