A delegation of UNESCO experts will arrive in Libya today. It will support the recovery of the education sector and the rehabilitation of cultural heritage after Storm Daniel. Libya requested UNESCO's assistance in helping rebuild the affected areas, as part of its mandate for education, culture and science. The UNESCO delegation is then scheduled to visit the site of Cyrene, inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1982 and on the List of World Heritage in Danger since 2016. Lastly, the UNESCO delegation will visit Derna, one of the towns hit hardest by the disaster, to assess the damage to educational and heritage buildings.
