These monsters are locked up after committing some of the most heinous crimes possible. In the past five years 264 ­rapists freed from prison went on to strike again. That’s five people a month who fall prey to these monsters. That’s the responsibility of ­prison staff, psychologists, police, social services, probation, and whoever else needs to be ­involved. The cynical nature of politics calculates that prisons are not a vote winner.
