A privately funded expedition found the wreckage 24 miles north of Guernsey at about 9am. The plane, which was carrying Sala, the newly signed Cardiff City striker, and David Ibbotson, the pilot, went missing on January 21. David Mearns, the marine scientist in charge of the search, said that they had confirmed the location of the wreckage of the missing aircraft. Sonar equipment on board the vessel, which has since returned to Guernsey, had identified the plane.
