The issue is not of the use of social media, but of its misuse. These guidelines address misuse and abuse of social media, and the victims of abuse need to have a platform. Ordinary users of WhatsApp have nothing to fear - it is my assurance to them as the IT minister. Don’t big Indian pharmaceutical companies who work in the US (or) Indian IT companies who work there follow US laws or not? They (social media firms) willingly appeared before the American Senate and Congress, the House of Commons in England, but when it came to (appearing before) the Indian parliament, they were reluctant.
