Amidst a disastrous transfer window, which has only seen two senior signings brought in so far, Newcastle United is desperately in need for a new big name to be brought in. And one former top target could be the answer to the club’s problems this window, which would be a true statement signing if we were able to finally secure his signature. According to The Times’ Martin Hardy, Newcastle are eyeing up a sensational return bid for Marc Guehi, as the Crystal Palace centre-back still faces an uncertain future at Selhurst Park. We may also be looking to act much later in the transfer window to try and force Palace’s hand, with Liverpool also keen on the defender but not wanting to overpay. NatWest let fake hotel take £1.7k even though I declined the payment
When my NatWest banking app prompted me to approve the transaction for £1,703, I declined it. Two days later, I was shocked when £1,703 was deducted from my bank account. I called NatWest but it won’t refund the payment because it said the issue was not caused by a bank error. • ‘Scammer left me with £23,000 Monzo loan’In your case you had declined the initial payment, which stopped money from being taken from your account. My stepdaughter found one for sale on the Homebase website that also has heat and massage functions.

Could white storks return to London? Public’s views sought on ‘talismanic’ bird
Long-vanished white storks have been reintroduced in southern England, leading to an “explosion” in sightings across Greater London in recent years. White storks could once be seen flying in Britain’s skies and building their huge nests on roofs and buildings as well as in trees, but disappeared centuries ago as a breeding bird due to hunting and habitat loss. In the four decades before the start of the project there were just 27 records of white storks across Greater London. “You look up into the skies and see a white stork, it’s quite obvious.”And he said: “We realised in recent years we’ve seen an explosion in white stork recordings across Greater London. The first phase of the study has involved surveying a representative sample of 1,000 Londoners, and a second phase is asking residents and frequent visitors to give their view on white storks and their place in the capital.

UK to bar universities from enrolling international students over asylum ‘back door’ abuse
The UK government is preparing to introduce strict new visa measures targeting foreign students who enter the country for higher education and later seek asylum, as reported by The Times. Institutions will also be penalised if more than 5% of their student visa applications are rejected. Those failing to meet the standards may have their ability to recruit international students suspended or revoked.The Home Office has identified a trend where international students apply for asylum just before their visas expire. In 2024, 16,000 asylum applications were linked to student visa holders, some of whom then claimed taxpayer-funded accommodation and allowances.According to data published in The Times, international students made up 25% of the UK student population in 2023–24, contributing £12.1 billion in revenue. For each person returned, the UK has committed to accepting an equivalent number of asylum seekers through safe and legal routes.
