By Don Nico ForbesHoneywell International plans to spin off its Advanced Materials business as it continues to simplify its strategic focus. The U.S.-listed industrial conglomerate said on Tuesday it is planning a tax-free spinoff of the business as an independent, U.S. publicly traded company, with completion targeted for the end of 2025 or early 2026. As an independent company, the Advanced Materials business--which provides sustainability-focused specialty chemicals and materials--will have revenue of roughly $3.8 billion, Honeywell said. "The planned spin-off will enable Honeywell to progress its strategic priorities of accelerating organic growth, evolving its Accelerator operating system, and optimizing its portfolio," the company said. WSJ: The DCCC’s Abortion Distortion CampaignOctober 8, 2024The DCCC is lying about Republicans’ position on abortion. And by the way, the pro-abortion rights Guttmacher Institute collects data on the incidence of abortion and related issues without controversy. The abortion distortion playbook has spread far and wide in Democratic campaigns. In California’s 22nd House district, GOP Rep. David Valadao has said he opposes a national abortion ban and supports abortion exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother. Yet challenger Rudy Salas is running an ad implying that Mr. Valadao supports no exception for rape.

[xviii]Nevertheless, the dynamic between Iraq and United States is complicated by the financial networks and intelligence links that exist between Iraq and Iran. [xxiv] For Iran and its allies in Iraq’s government, the prospective departure of US troops is undoubtedly viewed as an opportunity to consolidate power. It also underscored the tightrope the Sudani government walks in managing its complex ties with both Iran and the United States. Over the past 18 months, Iraq’s relations with both Iran and Turkey have improved, particularly regarding border security and the management of Kurdish affairs. Iraq’s National Security Council later acquiesced to Turkey’s longstanding demand to ban the PKK[xxxiii], though it stopped short of declaring the group a terrorist organization.

CNN news anchor Chris Wallace starts the book in January 1960, when U.S. Sen. John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts declared his candidacy for the presidency during a divided time in United States politics. We are introduced to mobsters, Hollywood movie stars, labor bosses and Cuba's revolutionary leader Fidel Castro. The results were so tight that Americans stayed up well past midnight to hear the final count. Kennedy narrowly defeated Republican Richard M. Nixon, who ultimately decided not to contest the results despite reports of voting irregularities in Illinois and Texas. As we approach another consequential election this year, the book is a reminder of how 1960 was also a deeply perilous time for America.

In response, Republicans first claim they’re better positioned on the issues, pointing to immigration and the economy but not abortion. Among non-college voters, Trump retains a 10% lead. He knew the things he was Tweeting about John Podesta’s emails weren’t true, Microchip testified at Douglass Mackey’s trial, but he didn’t care. But that’s not what Trump’s team meant when they said impending disaster creates an opportunity to attack Harris. NEW YORK — A bipartisan group of 14 attorneys general from across the country filed lawsuits on Tuesday against TikTok, alleging that the platform has “addicted” young people and harmed their mental health. Bonta said TikTok has 16 million users in California, many of whom use it multiple hours every day. And last month, 42 state attorneys general called on US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy to require labels on social media apps warning of their potential harm to young users. It also alleges that TikTok “challenges,” viral trends where users try to replicate videos created by others, can encourage dangerous behavior among young users. The lawsuit seeks financial penalties against TikTok, including a requirement that the platform repay any profits it received from ads directed to New York teens or pre-teens.
