AdvertisementSo what kind of speech is now subject to a person or entity potentially being deemed a domestic terrorism threat? The memo explicitly states that groups espousing “extremism on migration, race, and gender” are under suspicion as supporters of domestic terrorism. Vance alluded to stripping nonprofit groups like Open Society and the Ford Foundation of their tax-exempt status. Even the Supreme Court’s conservative supermajority, which has generally been sympathetic to Trump, has strongly sided with protections for the kind of core political speech targeted by Trump’s memo.

I’ve survived the negative attention thanks to a strong support network from my husband, family, friends and fellow sex workers. Courtesy of MelRose MichaelsThis type of shaming is a common experience for sex workers. She didn’t read the note aloud, but over the next several weeks she continuously threatened that she would. Then I had another idea: a line of clothing to help sex workers take back public spaces. Her latest projects include SexWorkCEO.com, a platform to help sex workers think like entrepreneurs, and the sex-worker-focused fashion line Networthy.

My mom didn’t say much. I had those moments too — brief flashes of warmth, of a father who made me laugh or feel seen. “After years working in Saudi Arabia, my dad came home and made me represent the country for U.N. Day at school,” the author writes. So when we saw the news about Duterte, it didn’t stir anything in us — not outrage, not closure, not even relief. My brothers and I didn’t just share a father; we chose each other.

“They want to have transgender for everybody,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Friday, referring to Democratic support for transgender rights. It’s possible some Democrats will support the measure when it comes up for another vote next week. But Democrats would likely need something more substantive than a suggestion of a possible future negotiation over the ACA tax credits. Klobuchar also said Democrats are willing to negotiate on their demands — but that Republicans need to first agree to sit down with them. “We want to negotiate with them to make this health care crisis less bad.

But his indictment represents just a fraction of the weaponization that has been unfolding at the Justice Department, increasingly under Trump’s direct bidding, for months. The attorney handled sensitive political cases during the first Trump administration and President Joe Biden’s administration, and resigned just before Trump was inaugurated again. A special Republican-led committee investigating Trump’s version of Jan. 6 was formed just weeks ago. The DOJ abruptly closed a Biden-era probe of Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, for allegedly accepting $50,000 from FBI agents posing as business executives. “I don’t know how we rebuild this level of devastation at the Justice Department.

The White House was told by ABC that his Show was cancelled!”AdvertisementHe later claimed in his post that the host is “another arm of the DNC,” before he lobbed a legal threat at ABC. Let’s see how we do,” he wrote, before he referenced ABC’s agreement in 2024 to settle a defamation case brought by Trump. LOADING ERROR LOADINGWASHINGTON — Donald Trump’s administration is threatening mass firings of federal employees, putting maximum pressure on Senate Democrats in the hopes that they’ll drop the health care concessions they’re demanding in order to avoid a government shutdown. But many Democratic candidates running to join the Senate are urging their party’s leadership not to back down, further squeezing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who faced widespread intraparty criticism after allowing a Republican-drafted spending bill to pass in March. LOADING ERROR LOADINGPresident Donald Trump did not let up on his attacks on the United Nations on Wednesday, citing “three very sinister events” that took place during a speech he gave at the body’s General Assembly the prior morning. The trio of concerns he raised included an escalator stopping while he was on it, his teleprompter malfunctioning while he spoke and the sound system allegedly glitching throughout his remarks. And while Trump claimed that attendees could not hear his speech unless they were wearing interpreters’ earpieces, a U.N. official noted that this may have been due to the system’s design. “The sound system was designed to allow people at their seats to hear speeches being translated into six different languages through earpieces,” the official told the BBC. Trump’s digs this week follow years of broadsides he’s levied against the U.N. and have only been used to justify his dissatisfaction with the body.
