Application Deadline: 19th March 2024About the Award: The Study in Canada Scholarships program is facilitated through institutional collaborations and student exchange agreements between post-secondary institutions in Canada and in the following eligible countries/territories: Algeria, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kenya, Libya, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Taiwan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, and Ukraine. Students, hereby referred to as “candidates”, must be registered as full-time students in their home institution at the time of application and during the entire duration of their study or research stay in Canada. In addition to the funds allocated to the recipients by DFATD, the Canadian host institution may also claim CAD 500 per scholarship recipient to assist with administrative costs once the scholarship recipient arrives in Canada. How to Apply for Study in Canada Scholarships: Only Canadian institutions can submit applications on behalf of candidates.

In a groundbreaking initiative, Aptech Africa has successfully installed and commissioned the first solar-PV mini-grid system in Mambasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo. The region, known for its rich natural resources, has grappled with energy accessibility, particularly in remote areas. The newly completed 120kWp hybrid system, complemented by a 225kWh ground-mounted battery energy storage capacity and a 72kVa generator, is poised to bring consistent and reliable power to 350 users. New Delhi: Works of Indian women artists, including Deena Pindoria and Jayati Kaushik, are showcased at the ongoing 17th edition of Art Dubai by Delhi-based gallery Exhibit 320. The all-women show, 'Brushstrokes of Heritage', has contemporary Indian and sub-continental art on display at Dubai's Madinat Jumeirah. While Pindoria's vibrant works pay homage to stories of resilience and courage of the women from her ancestral region of Kutch, Kaushik explores the intricacies of human connections through visual narratives. Other Indian artists whose works are displayed at the art fair are Gunjan Kumar, Sumakshi Singh and Sheela Jyoti. The presidential election delay was first tackled by an Algerian political leader and some Algerian experts before some independent Moroccan analysts addressed the subject matter. But APS unfairly targeted Morocco with calumnious statements, violating all codes of ethics of professional journalism. Secondly, the military has not yet come up with an alternative candidate because they are overly preoccupied with fighting amongst themselves. Domestically, a postponement would raise an outcry but one that would be containable because most Algerians no longer care about them. If the election is postponed, the regime would need to justify the decision.

All over the authoritarian world, state news agencies serve to reflect the mindset, policies, and official positions of their regimes. As it hit the bottom and continues to dig, Algeria’s state news agency APS moved from spreading propaganda and fake news to outright insults. Blinded by its endemic hostility to Morocco’s territorial integrity, the Algerian regime’s mouthpiece has hit absurd levels in attributing false statements and positions to countries and global bodies. In October 2021, the UN has denied as false reports by Algeria’s APS that Morocco “failed” to become a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). In response, OHCHR spokesperson Rupert Colville lashed out at the Algerian news agency’s “false information” in a fiery statement.

Bamako’s top military rulers accused Algeria in a statement of stoking separatism and terrorism as well as interfering in Bamako’s domestic affairs. Tebboune was seen hugging Dicko at the inauguration of the biggest mosque in Algeria. Kokalla Maiga was speaking as Algeria conducts live ammunition military drills near the Malian borders. As Niger has previously rejected Algeria’s self-serving mediation, the Sahel recalls the destructive role of Algeria in stoking terrorism in the wider west Africa. As an indicator of a diplomacy in disarray, Algeria has chosen the path of diplomatic provocation and live ammunition drills to deal with its crisis with Sahel countries.
