Jared Polis signed into law eight bills passed by the legislature this year that tighten Colorado’s gun statutes. Colorado Ceasefire, a nonprofit that calls for tougher gun regulations, says that’s a legislative-session record for the state. The laws impose new requirements on people obtaining concealed carry permits, the way firearms must be stored in vehicles and how weapons and ammunition are sold. Passing the live-fire test, as well as a written exam, will also be mandatory to get a concealed carry permit. Employees will have to report anyone who tries to unlawfully purchase a gun to law enforcement within 48 hours.

THE African Transformation Movement (ATM) has taken the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Mosotho Moepya, to court. ATM president Vuyolwethu Zungula said on Wednesday, 12 June that his party has filed papers with the Electoral Court. “The ATM has taken a decisive step towards ensuring electoral integrity and justice by filing papers with the Electoral Court, calling for the court’s due consideration into allegations of misconduct,” Zungula said. The case stems from allegations that Moepya plotted with the ANC in an attempt to deregister the party in 2019. He said the party addressed concerns regarding the IEC's credibility and impartiality in overseeing elections.

Growing up in Tampa, Florida, he also remembers Tantric's “Down and Out” as the walk-up song for former Rays infielder Evan Longoria. Soto, 25, has used Daddy Yankee's "HOT" as his walk-up music in the past. A Union Pacific Railroad train spilled a synthetic rubber substance into a southeast Nebraska creek Tuesday when it derailed near the Cass County-Otoe County line. One of the cars was loaded with polyisobutylene, a synthetic rubber, that ended up leaking into Wolf Creek, according to a spokeswoman for Union Pacific. Union Pacific told Sorenson the derailment is believed to have been caused by thermal misalignment, which occurs when the heat causes the rails to expand and push out of alignment. Hazardous materials crews from Union Pacific are managing the cleanup. Also responding to the scene were firefighters from Nehawka and Nebraska City, Cass County Emergency Management and Otoe County Emergency Management.
