Truck driver swaps Eskom coal for cash
THE Hawks in Mpumalanga have arrested a truck driver caught swapping discarded coal. According to a statement released by Eskom, its Security Investigations Tactical Team spotted the truck, loaded with coal, entering a coal yard and after approximately an hour, it headed to Arnot Power Station, where it queued to offload the coal. "The Eskom Group Security Investigations team checked and discovered that the coal, due to be offloaded, was discarded coal containing stones which confirmed the suspected coal swapping witnessed earlier at the Middleburg coal yard. Eskom's Acting General Manager for Security, Botse Sikhwitshi, praised collaborative efforts of the Hawks and the Eskom team. Sikhwitshi said Eskom will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to ensure that illegal coal yards are shut down.

Rwanda defence chief meets Bangladesh army chief
DHAKA, June 12, 2024 (BSS) -Visiting Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force MK Mubarakh today paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed at the Dhaka Cantonment. General Shafiuddin thanked his Rwanda counterpart Mubarrakh for visiting Dhaka and also paying the courtesy call on him. Earlier, the Rwanda defence force chief placed a wreath at Shikha Anirban (the Eternal Flame) at Dhaka Cantonment. Later, a smart contingent of the armed forces gave Rwanda army chief a 'guard of honour' at Senakunja, where he planted a sapling. During the visit, he will visit the National Defence College in Mirpur Cantonment, the Bangabandhu Military Museum, the Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory in Rajendrapur Cantonment, the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operations Training, and Cox's Bazar, the release added.
