MK party's mission to halt Parliament!
THE uMkhonto Wesizwe Party (MK), founded by former president Jacob Zuma, has lodged an urgent application with the Constitutional Court to interdict the first sitting of Parliament scheduled for Friday, 14 June in Cape Town. The MK is contesting the fairness of the 29 May elections in the Electoral Court, arguing that the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) should redo the election within 90 days. Having secured 58 seats in its first general election participation, MK is challenging the IEC’s premature declaration of the 2024 elections as free and fair. In a related legal move, MK founder and expelled member Jabulani Khumalo has filed a notice of motion in the Western Cape High Court, seeking to interdict Parliament and the MK party from removing his name as a member of Parliament. Following their announcement to boycott the sitting, Parliament has cancelled all travel and accommodation arrangements for MK members.

A court has approved forensic tests on the mobile phones of Awami League leader Kazi Kamal Ahmed aka Babu and three others suspected of involvement in the murder of Jhenaidah MP Anwarul Azim Anar. The four whose mobiles are to be examined are Babu – the relief and social welfare secretary of the Jhenaidah district Awami League unit, Amanulla Sayeed aka Shimul Bhuiyan, his nephew Tanvir Bhuiyan, and Celesty Rahman. India eyes oil deals with nations including Russia, minister says

Man dies, 40 fall sick
A man has died and as many as 40 others have been hospitalised after they fell sick due to gas leaking from an old cylinder at a shop in Dhaka's Adabor. The incident occurred at a junk shop owned by a man named Kalu near Shyamoli Housing Gate No. At least 40 other people from the area were taken sick and admitted to different hospitals, including Dhaka Medical and Suhrawardy Hospital.
