SEATTLE, Washington (AP) — The Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation into the Boeing jetliner blowout that left a gaping hole on an Alaska Airlines plane this January, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday. The Boeing plane used by Alaska Airlines suffered the blowout seven minutes after takeoff from Portland, Oregon, forcing the pilots to make an emergency landing. Boeing has acknowledged in a letter to Congress that it cannot find records for work done on the door panel of the Alaska Airlines plane. The company said its “working hypothesis” was that the records about the panel’s removal and reinstallation on the 737 MAX final assembly line in Renton, Washington, were never created, even though Boeing’s systems required it.

Remittance inflows are expected to improve in the context of moderating global inflation and an upgrade of the global growth outlook. Near-term risks include climate shocks, security risks in Somalia and the region, and lower global growth,” IMF said. During the meeting, the IMF team has reached a staff-level agreement on the first review under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) arrangement. ADDIS ABABA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified its priorities for Ethiopia during 2024 and 2025 amid "ever-increasing needs and decreased funding." It said food insecurity due to lost harvest and livestock is aggravating already high malnutrition rates, negatively impacting morbidity and mortality. The WHO said in an environment with "ever-increasing needs and decreased funding," it has identified priorities for 2024 and 2025, which include strengthening advocacy for longer-term development funding to address root causes of recurrent disease outbreaks, while also advocating for increased access to quality health services. As part of its priority of advocating for increased access to quality health services, the WHO said it will focus on sexual and reproductive health services, the inclusion of people with disabilities, older people, and people living with HIV, as well as addressing remote populations through the inclusion of mobile health teams. The WHO said it is closely collaborating with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health to prepare for, prevent, and respond to public health emergencies by mobilizing resources to enable health partners to provide life-saving health services to vulnerable populations.

As Canada’s 18th prime minister, Mulroney was a figure who earned both admiration and criticism, leading the country through a tumultuous time with a bold vision that left an indelible mark on the nation’s history. His time as prime minister wascharacterized by a willingness to tackle challenging issues. One of Mulroney’s most notable accomplishments was signing the Canada–United States Free Trade Agreement (CUSFTA) and later the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Brian Mulroney once remarked, “If your only objective is to be popular, you’re going to be popular, but you will be known as the Prime Minister who achieved nothing.” Despite losing political popularity and the 1993 election, Mulroney accomplished much during his tenure as Prime Minister. He was a prime minister who dared to dream big and take risks, for better or worse.
