NPP to reduce number of flagbearer hopefuls to five

A total of 10 NPP presidential candidate aspirants had picked up nomination forms as of Thursday, June 1, 2023, and had paid a non-refundable nomination fee of GH¢50,000. ‘I was here before the Asantehene’ – Antoahene on why he enstooled a chief without Otumfuo’s approval

‘Next NDC Government Will Do Proper Re-Registration Of SIM Cards’ – Sam George
The Minority in Parliament has revealed the intentions of the National Democratic Congress to conduct another SIM re-registration exercise should it win the 2024 elections. According to Sam George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, the claim that the current government's stance on the re-registration exercise is aimed at combating crime is false. As a result, the NDC has the intention to undertake a proper re-registration of SIM cards in the future, eliminating the need for subscribers to queue at telecom offices. The current SIM re-registration exercise, which commenced on October 1, 2021, has led to the deactivation of approximately 9 million unregistered SIM cards by telecommunications firms in Ghana. Meanwhile, the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has provided an update on the status of the SIM re-registration exercise.

Chief sues Executive Secretary of Public Servants Housing Loans Scheme over GH¢350,000 cash

According to the plaintiff's amended statement of claim, Dr. Richard Asante Yeboah approached the Chief on January 7, 2022, requesting an amount of GH¢400,000. The chief advanced the requested amount to the defendant but alleges that he has shown no commitment to repay the money. In October 2022, the defendant made a partial payment of GH¢50,000 to the chief. The plaintiff is seeking a court order to compel the Executive Secretary of the Public Servants Housing Loans Scheme to repay the outstanding amount of GH¢350,000 with interest at the prevailing commercial borrowing rate from January 2022 until the final date of repayment.
